RG: I think it's safe to conclude that 9:30 is a little bit too early for many people here. Wow! However, we do need volunteers and we need them for a bunch of urgent spaces, so between sessions today I will start recruiting volunteers when there are many more people in these tents.

But I am glad you are here anyway; Goodmorning! What we need doing most, probably more than anything else, is stage volunteers. These tents get hot during the daytime, a little hotter than we had figured even, and we need many people to rotate and to handle a few very simple tasks that are very important to all of us. The simple tasks are: Making sure that the microphone isn't too loud; Doesn't go to squeal. Making sure that the next speaker is there 10 minutes before the start of the hour, and making sure that the previous speaking knows that he has 5 minutes at that point. So you have 5 minutes to switch over as well. So call the office if there are nobody here. That is basicly the tasks of these tent volunteers.

And because we need 4 at the same time for a fairly long period of the day, that is a task for about 30 or 40 people. We have tried recruiting people for one or two hours at the time, but that doesn't really work because then the time it takes instructing these people and making sure they show up, is almost as much as having them for these one or two hours that they actually show up.

So what we would like is to organize a fixed crew of about 40 or 50 people maximum, 30 would work if they would work a little harder. 30 or 40 people, who between them split up the tasks. In other words: Between them they figure out who does which hours. We have the coordination, we have people to manage that. Greg is helping out managing that. And the people from

[need to insert names and iconic/ikonik/iconik/ikonic here]

are working on that. So we got the coordination down, we just need the people to form that team, and to between them work out who does what.

So I was hoping to maybe sit here and fuss with people until I had 40 hands. However, there are not even 40 of you here, and some of you probably have other things to do as well. So it would be great if we had a good start of 10 volunteers. We have most of the day today covered. We need 6 or 7 more people for today, and then we have today covered. It is about tomorrow and the day after, because we are running on the same volunteers doing stuff over and over again, and come tomorrow or the day after and they will just simply drop, fall over, be asleep on the mixing board. That's not good.

So if there are four, five or six of you, that we can recruit for today, that would be good.

[Three hands go up]

Excellent, that's half of it.

[One hand go up]

Four! Do I have five, do I have five? Four going once..

[Laughing] [One hand go up]

Five! Anybody more than five? Five going once.. Five going twice.. Ok we got five, that is almost everything. Yay, yay, yay. Today is covered.. Almost. These five people, could you please go to the speaker desk. The speaker desk is in the big building.. Small building actually.. Right at the end of this street. One side of it is marked "Speaker desk", if you walk in it is fairly obvious.

Other than that, I think we will do most of the volunteer stuff between sessions now. Because there are some other crews that I need people for, but there is stuff where I need like 40 or 50 people again, and it is really much easier if this whole tent is filled with people.

I am not sure there are more practical things.. Greg, you had a whole list of stuff?

GN: I am ready.

RG: Okay, do you have cars on your list?

GN: Cars.. I have two with windows down.

RG: Okay, you have two with windows down.

GN: Moving cars..

RG: Moving cars.. Okay, then I pass the stage to Greg who will do some practical stuff.

GN: So we have a few things to let people know, and it's such a small crowd here.. Spread the word during the day, and as we know: Feel free and empowered and welcome to talk with your fellow attendees. One thing that we do, that you have noticed and some of you have been victims of even, in the last few minutes, is that we recruit. We try ask people to help, to pitch in with all the activities.

What I would like to is to just tell you a few quick things. Actually, hold on I have a piece of paper.. We have a couple of schedule changes. One thing that is going to happen is that the session for this morning.. There was a session for this morning in tent 4, which is cancelled. The session in tent 4 this morning is cancelled. It is "What the hacker community". We therefore only have two sessions at 10 o'clock. The one in here, which is me actually. And then the one in tent one, which is physical security.

We also have a new session that is added. This is in tent 4, it is about blogging and whether bloggers are journalists. That sort of questions. Vincent and Colin will be leading that. I think that is our South African contingent. It turns out that there arn't as many people here from South Africa as you might have thought. And they are doing their best to uphold. That is going to be at 2 pm in tent 4. That is a blogging session, 2pm in tent 4. I'm not certain that these are on the wiki yet, I think we are still.. Yeah we are still waiting for wiki progress. The digital identification session is also cancelled. Those are the schedule changes that I know of. There are still a few open slots if you decide that you would like to say.. You would like to share something, then go to the speaker building and you can sign up for an open slot.

There were several cancelled sessions yesterday, and as far as we know none of those can be rescheduled because the speaker did not arrive on site. So if we do find the speakers and reschedule them, we will let you know. Hopefully via the wiki which hasn't been updated, but maybe we will announce it here. If you know of those speakers: Contact them, and encourage them to quickly get here.

Make sure you are not driving cars inappropriately, and keep them off the grass. You know about that. Put them in the parking spots.

I want to remind you of Lost and Found. The infopoint has a lost and found box. If you find items that seem to be lost, please turn them in there. If you are missing an item.. There are a few items there. I think a few umbrellas, a jacket, also a pair of sunglasses. Then you can go and ask for those items.

About shuttles. Many are thinking of taking the shuttle back to the Boxtel train station. The shuttles are basicly running from 9 am until 11 pm, and so if you need to be there earlier than 9, then you should arrange for a taxi. We understand that taxis are pretty easy, they will come out here and pick you up, and bring you in to Boxtel. For people who might want to go shopping, that sort of thing: Basicly the shuttle is point to point. It is from the train station to here, and back again. But once you are in Boxtel, at the train station, you can walk for 10 minutes to a supermarket or that sort of thing.
