Hallo daar!

I'm at the WTH with my tent and gear. I am carrying my home phone with me (found it again) and I am at DECT #3785. I should be reachable from the outside world at +31 411 629 976. Maybe you get the german operator guy. Ask him to put you through to 3785. image:Paul.jpg

Looking for Linksys Wireless-G support in Linux

I am seeking support for LinkSys Wireless USB "WUSB54G" in Mandrake Linux LE2005. This is what I get so far: Alternative Mandrake update source LinuxQuestions WUSB54G

WUSB54Gv4

It looks as if I have a LinkSys WUSB54Gv4. According to NdisWrapper Wiki this has a RRT2500USB chipset.

The Linksys WUSB54Gv4 has a RT2570 Chipset from Ralink.

Question: how to compile a module separately?

Impressions of WTH

Day 1

I got here in the evening. A thunderstorm has passed by and gave all of us a wet nose.

Day 2

Today i visited

Tonight a friendly woman Elektra (|Elektra?) from the Wireless Village helped me compile a kernel to get support on my laptop for a Linksys Wireless-G USB adapter. We downloaded the driver from Seamonkey website and compiled it without errors. After rebooting the Linksys was recognized but it wouldn't work. Instead the cheap E-tech wireless USB adapter worked and connected without problems tot the WTH Mesh.

Day 3

Image:Drinkwater.jpg

This night a flood came from the sky and drowned me and my tent. Everything is soaked, even my laptop. I'm packing and going to a hotel somewhere. Tonight I will be staying at the Hotel Bosrand in Oisterwijk.

I will be visiting more lectures, hang out at the bar, pick up some nerdy chicks maybe :-) and do some more volunteer work.

Day 4

It is raining constantly. The field is one big muddy place. I helped videomixing the lecture on Jabber and videotaped Schillix and at Wifi_workshop. At 17:00 is the closing session by Rop Gonggrijp and then I'll be heading home.

My Laptop is broken. The screen often freezes and then goes blurry and white. It is totally useless, so I will not upload any photos anymore.I got a hint to look for a "Salvage company". They may know what to do about it.

Tonight I helped with tearing down the place. The network is going down soon, and then there will be no more wikiwikiing to do from here. The sun workstations in the big WhatTheBar tent still are free for use and for browsing and accessing the wiki pages of WhatTheHack.

Still the openBSD people from Germany are randomly shouting Humppa!.... Odd guys those Open BSD guys

I helped cleaning showers, picked up all fire extinguishers from all over the terrain with my car and with 3 german informatik stuttgart students and I moved the computer stuff at the Infodesk. I earned my own cool W!T!H! hat (which is very special collectors item because it cannot be bought, just earned) .

Tonight I will be sleeping in one of the main circus tents. That will be cold experience. Tomorrow morning there will be a volunteer breakfast and it's for free!!! After that and some more voluntering I return home and enjoy talking to some """normal people""" (like Ellen you got a special place in my heart )

This is it! sunday 0:15 ..in five minutes network is shutting down. No more editting Wiki..

So long and thanks for all the fish

Monday

The big cleanup has started. I stay around in order to help with what had to be done. I helped coiling up the 1600 m glass fiber from the ditch. It had to be pulled al the way through the ditches to keep it in one peace. After that we moved the soda crates and barrels of beer through the WhatTheBar tent to the tarmac road. At 20:30 the volunteer dinner started at the catering place and then we enjoyed the "Kamikaze" which is made of Vodka and lime. A crazy german has pronounced a few people in the order of the Humppa (what is Humppa? This is Humppa.. and listen to this! ) and we enjoyed he from a OpenBSD laptop.

Tuesday

I was sick and I had a "kater" because i drunk much too many of those mean little Kamikazes. I head for home. I also saw another AWACS flying over the campsite at about 11:30 !
