Preparations

Only one week to go and we're hitting the road to NL!

Thursday, 21 July 2005

OmniBook is finally up and running under OpenBSD with WindowMaker. Looking for a filemanager...

Friday, 22 July 2005

Still looking for a way to do my presentation in HTML. Dom Slides looks quite promising... tried it out, can recommend it!

Sunday, 24 July 2005

We will travel on Tuesday. This means only two days to go! Still have to buy and do a few things - time is running fast.

Monday, 25 July 2005

Last day at home. 2230: Clothes are packed. Two notebooks and technical stuff still needs to get stuffed into their case. The weather looks lousy: Cold, rain, thunderstorms.

Travel to WTH

Tuesday, 26 July 2005

After having picked up Edelweisskönig and Ischariot (our car was full) we wanted to hit autobahn A8. Luckily ray from MUCCC called to let us know that there was a traffic jam so we took an alternative road. Then everything ran smoothly: Not too much traffic. After picking up some bread we hit the road again and arrived at the target zone at 2030.

We unloaded our stuff at the BSD village which will be our home base for the next five days. Nice people there ... and good beer!

Being there

Wednesday, 27 July 2005

Rain during the night! Woke up at 0430 with a hell of a headache. An aspirin should help. Getting up at 0900, having breakfast (well sort of) at the big village tent. 1200: Only few people are awake. 1300: The weather is getting better! No more rain - sky is clearing up - SUN!!! Doing a walk around the area - finding Marnix's dome. 1430: Tried to register our DECT phones at the POC. It's still closed ("We'll open after breakfast"). At 1600 we finally succeed. In the evening the long awaited tables and chairs for the BSD village tent arrive. Ebi and Logix show up.

Thursday, 28 July 2005

1st day of the Festival. Heavy rain and thunderstorm in the morning, after that sunny and WARM! We drive to Boxtel, buying food and drinks. Marnix calls in the afternoon and drops by. He's doing a projection in his dome in the evening - great show! Heavy rain again in the evening.

Friday, 29 July 2005

Slept long. Nothing special to say about this day - except:

  • The weather is going crazy
  • The people at the BSD village are crazy
  • This whole thing I'm at right now is crazy

Did I mention that I'm crazy too?!? ;)

Saturday, 30 July 2005

Again very heavy rain and wind in the night. Don't feeling like writing much more today.

In the evening, we made a little trip to the nearby town of Boxtel to get more BEER.

Sunday, 31 July 2005

The day started like usual (cold, rainy). Presentation by Marnix at 1100 about 'Buckminster Fuller - Universal Hacker'. Very very interesting and inspiring. As well as the talk with Marnix afterwards. Then we meet Han Fey from the Dutch Lockpickers. He shows us the fantastic Abloy Protec lock, a disk lock that is (for the time being) hack, bump and pick proof. I like it so much that I buy one immediately.

Travel back home

Monday, 01 August 2005

After getting up at 0800, having breakfast (lots of stuff was in the fridge...) and helping cleaning up a bit, we hit the road back to Munich. Everything went smoothly. Traffic and weather conditions were near optimal.
