Some time ago I met those people who want me to join their "semi-research-group" (who know what I mean ;) ), called VJ's. Now I will watch and obey to become a part of these crazy geek circle.
howTo
Beside participating at our own FeM-Village stuff, I try to get a lot of information such an event can offer to me. Based on my information management studies I will try to find new ways, chances and possibilities for our Research Community to tap the full potential of non-profit-marketing combined with a fetish-like addiction to new(est) media.
it's on
After arrival in the early 6 am the weather decided to turn into a verry wet rainstorm. But doens't matter. We build up our main-tent (just to have a dark but dry lounge) like some Maniacs, traced by a murder of crows. After a while, when the weather calms down, the rest of the Village was under construction. So we spend a lot of time by carrying bags, installing hardware (the important one ;) ), building up sleep tents and throwing canvas covers, camouflage nets and ropes. In the early evening the whole thing seemed like to be ready to enjoy ..enjoy the meanwhile warm (sometimes too warm) weather, the geeks all around, the camp facilities, the netherlands ;) and espacially all of our cute little toys like laptops, barebones, a file storage, a video projector, 2 DV-Cams, a 100 mbit network (amidst the pampas) and so on. At the end, after a 40 hours lasting workingday, we fall asleep around midnigt by watching some films and relax.
1st day of consumption
There were many of interesting simultaneous lectures in the four circus tents, but if you want to or not, you have to decide which one you are going to see. So I did, but sometimes I think my choice was wrong. The stuff some spokesmen are talking about mostly wasn't really news, not to mention geek. You could have heared this at a boring reading at university too. Anyway. We'll see what comes tomorrow ..it'll be better ..I think so :)
