The Dutch Open 2005 Lockpicking Championship has been won by Thorsten Quast.

From What The Wiki?!

Today, 30 July 2005, the Dutch Open was organized by TOOOL (The Open Organization Of Lockpickers) and started at 12:30. Anybody from any country could join. This year twenty strong contenders joined. Everyone got a different lock provided by Toool to pick within 7 minutes. With the Dutch Open no tools other than normal lockpicks and tensioners are allowed, and before the clock starts, only the tension pick may be inserted. The contender shouts "OPEN" when he has managed to opened a lock, after which the time it took is announced and jotted down. After 7 minutes the contenders exchange locks. At 17:00 the last four contenders swapped their locks under great interest. Germany was really in the lead with three contenders. Finally Dr. Torsten Quast from Berlin won the contest.

The first three contenders got an engraved plaque and a very nice cylinder.

  1. Dr. Torsten Quast (Berlin) won the cutaway GEGE Lock Pextra without key
  2. Gerhard Hepperle (Stuttgart) won the KABA Quatro S
  3. Barry Wels (Amsterdam) won the MNC antiklop cylinder
  4. Clemens Oeltjen (Berlin)
  5. Dr. Manfred Bölker (Hamburg)
  6. Walter Belgers (Eindhoven)
  7. Arthur Meister (Hamburg)

The three winners of the 2004/2005 TOOOL lockpicking competition also got a nice lock and plaque.

This competition between Toool members continues all year, and provides an opportunity to learn the 26 different competition locks inside and out. So you can pick a particular lock as many times as you like, and your fastest time will be the only one that counts. The winners are:

  1. Barry Wels (Amsterdam)
  2. Paul Boven (Amsterdam)
  3. Walter Belgers (Eindhoven)

The rest of this evening, beginners courses start every whole hour at the lockpicking village. The tent with the big Toool logo.
