Can software radio help us build our own passive radar systems?
Passive radar systems take advantage of "illuminators of opportunity"-- other people's transmitters -- such as TV, radio and cellularbasestations. Using multiple antennas and/or multiple receivers and abunch of signal processing we believe we will be able track thevelocity and position of "interesting objects". We also believe thatby observing the variation in radar cross section over time, we shouldbe able to identify the class of the objects that we're seeing.
