CampsiteLocations on main page
plaese put the link to CampsiteLocations back on the main page. It's better for infomation, orientation and navigation about the wth. http://wiki.whatthehack.org/WTW/index.php/CampsiteLocations

You can actually do it yourself - the template that is included is not locked, only the front page itself.

ok, thank you, I didn't know that, I was thinking the whole frontpage is looked.

We are preparing the wiki for WTH itself, and have decided to move all content from the old site to the wiki, and then using locked pages for 'official-source' information.
I'm having a problem however with that the dates of the updates in the Dynamic Page Lists seem to be fucked up.
I've already tried different Date Formats...
If anyone knows why this is, please let me know.

New design of main page
Like the new design of the main page. Very clear. GREAT!

like the new design :) good work! Thali 16:37, 2 Jul 2005 (CEST)
Thanks, Thali! Positive feedback is so much welcome... was taking a bit of a risk with this, cutting down other people's texts... (well, also text that I started, and I did move everything to other pages ;) -DWizzy 16:43, 2 Jul 2005 (CEST)
Too la^H^Hbusy to do it myself, but....
- Remove details from main page (OLSR frequencies, barbecue). They are important but still should not be on the frontpage
- Maybe make a box at the top with 'current issues' or something, one line per thing such as hacktrain, not a whole box for it.
- Top should give a link to an intro on what WTH is about, for people totally unfamiliar.
Just my 2 cts...

- I don't think having the details on the MP itself is a problem, but I think the over-use of red and bold is. The more things get this kind of attention, the less the overall effect is. Compare it to a site full of banners: after a while you don't see them anymore. I changed it to be a bit more friendly to the eyes, but the info is still on the MP.
- Good idea. Done. I think a red box around it is much friendlier than red text. It draws more attention, while still looking good.
- Why and how would anyone who isn't familiar with WTH visit the Wiki without first visiting the real site?

Number of users
Is there any special for the number of users? Would be nice to mention that as well... next to the number of articles.
Thali 12:37, 3 Jul 2005 (CEST)
AFAIK, there is no variable for that.

"here"
Any link that points to here is WRONG. A link description must still make sense when it is read out of context. See here ;) for more info.
Besides, the link target was already present in the huge heading, and there's no special need for redundancy on a wiki.

greenbox
I dislike the greenbox next to the redbox. Perhaps it would look better if they were the same height. Does anyone know how to do that, without giving up the templates?

Move map to CampsiteLocations?
What do you think about moving the PDF map to CampsiteLocations? It seems a bit redundant.

lost and found ?
can't add it since the page is locked.. can we have a lost and found section ? like below the trade market? I noticed some foud stuff already on personal pages. but certainly for during the event this seems like the perfect place.

"here" again
See previous discussion section about "here". Please change "Click here for more news, and to write articles and announcements." on top of the news to "Go to [What the news] for more news or to write an article yourself." at the bottom in a non-small font. It could be small if all the important news was at the Main Page, but it isn't, because it lists only four items, and there are approx. six new items *per day* so far. At the bottom is the more logical place, as the link serves as a "More" button. This is a simple matter of reading direction.
Also, at this rate of news, isn't 4 items much too few? This way, the front page news list is only useful to people who check the Wiki five times a day :)

Driving instructions
I added driving instructions to http://wiki.whatthehack.org/index.php/Traveling yesterday. Unfortunately this page isn't linked in anymore. Adriaan van Roosmalen
Redundant headlines template
The main page should contain the What_The_News_Headlines instead of Headlines as these two are redundant. In the What The News section of the wiki, the correct template is being used. Having redundant files is counterproductive. --Zero2one 23 July 2005 17:24 (CEST)
