From What The Wiki?!

As already started at the village page as well:

Do we want a mayor tent?

So far I see three pagode style units but that hardly counts as anything.

My impression of a village is to have a tent that has at least 15 square meters and headroom to accomodate guests and so on. Problem is I do not have this either and renting it might cost us.

Do we see a problem or is this OK?

THINK about RAIN (hope not). Would that imply no aquaville (pun intended) or a place to meet.

The pagodas are about 9 square meters each (3x3). So we have about 27m2 in total atm. Of course that's the room we'll be occupying with the people currently on the list. If we want to have people over we'll indeed need some more room. Also, if we can set up the village near some trees I think we can use blkhawk's tent sails (S-kote thingamajigs) to create another roof.

On the topic of rain, we have Hanno in our village so we have a WTH organization insider we can use to try and pull some strings for us *grin* (just kidding :)). Seriously though, we might try and ask someone from the WTH organization if they could provide a medium size tent or where we can move our village to in case of bad weather.

I agree that those pagodes + sails are enough IF the weather is really fine. But even the slightest amount of rain will render it useless as 3 pagodes do not make one roof let alone the absence of sidewalls. Also, in the night, sidewalls are usefull to stop humidity.

Do you agree that a village implies not to have to go to a main tent?

In my mind, the white tent as shown in the BSD_Village looks the way to go. What would that cost and what does it take to set it up? Would we be willing to do this? If not, I could imagine we reserve some corner in a tent at A3 and make that our activity spot in case of moderate/bad weather.

Although I myself am Dutch, I am not able to arrive before Thursday and also, I have no car available. ('ll tell you all at camp ;-)

I'll just post it here too for good measure: I talked to scb2 (Daniel) on irc and he proposed we setup everything right next to the broadcast tent and use their tables and tent for our village (together with the pagodas and tables we already have). They'll be using mostly Apple hardware anyway, so we should be able to fit right in. He will also draw out a detailed plan of the A4 area (should be done in the next 1 or 2 days). That way we'll be able to get a better idea of where all our pagodas and the swimming pool will be located in relation to the broadcast tent.
