How to participate in What The Hack (and extract the maximum of fun!)

Tell your friends!

There are many ways to be a part of this event, even long before July. First and foremost, you can help by telling all your friends about What The Hack, and dragging them along. In fact, as long as they are all coming anyway, why not arrange for some common facilities (maybe a large tent to use as a central hangout?) and call it a village?

How to get started

Would you like some help?

Volunteer

All of our events would have been miserable failures if it wasn't for the efforts of a large number of volunteers. Whether it is serving drinks, laying cables, being the main coordinator for some part of the event we somehow forgot all about(*) or emptying garbage cans: there are all sorts of things that we need help with in order to make What The Hack go smoothly. Lots of volunteer work needs to be done before, during and after the event. Volunteering is actually a lot of fun as you will be working with other people who share your interests as well as learning a whole lot in the process and really feeling a part of the event.

Since almost everyone at these events is a volunteer in one way or another we can't let you in for free. But you will be doing important stuff, meet many interesting people and generally have a great time. If you're interested in helping out, please send e-mail to volunteer@whatthehack.org.

Except where noted, no particular experience is required to be a volunteer at What The Hack.

More specific details will be posted here as soon as we know more.

(*) Don't ask: you wouldn't believe the stories anyway.

Start a village

Some of these 'villages' will be tiny, others will be full-scale sub-events centered on topics or activities, ranging from lockpicking to computing in developing countries. If you feel like setting up a village and need any help planning facilities, let us know (by sending e-mail to info@whatthehack.org) and we'll see what we can do.

Facilities

There are some facilities for people who help building WTH etc.
