Modeling World Energy

From What The Wiki?!

Liempde, July 29 2005 - Richard Lawrence presented his idea for a World Energy Model at tent 1 today. He outlined energy is at the core of virtually every problem on earth and the decisions in the next two decades will be critical. We are largly depending on oil, renewables are still marginal and nuclear is at standstill. At the same time economic recovery and the growing economies of China, India and others demand ever more energy. The rate of discovering new oil resources already peaked 40 years ago (we are finding less and less). There are no dependable figures on oil reserves, but the (final) peak in oil production will come in the next 5-30 years. After wards it will simply go down. Lawrence proposes to build a World Energy Model, based on good data, to make really dependable decisions on best practices and good investment. It should be based on standardized database and spreadsheet formats.
