Elmar Geese is Chairman of the Linux-Verband, the German Linux Business Association. He is also co-owner of a software development company. His company they came to use GNU/Linux several years ago. They found that this could be the right way to acquire more skills and even have more fun while earning money as well. Promoting Linux as business the Linux-Verband also brings more interesting challenges. Among other things this means doing lobby for Free Software, Open Source and Linux and other freely available operating systems.
Markus Beckedahl is chairman of the Netzwerk Neue Medien, a german digital rights organisation. He is also co-owner of newthinking communications, a Berlin-based company for open source strategies and technologies. He's been involved in several campaigns promoting free software and open source technologies like Bundestux - Linux into the German parliament. In his weblog netzpolitik.org he writes about digital rights and free software in German language. netzpolitik.org has been nominated by Reporters without Borders "Freedom Blog Awards" as best international blog promoting freedom of expression.
