Hacking for the Stoned

The stoned are not very well served digitally these days. WTH will be the start of better times.

brainstorming and problem analysis

First things that come to mind:

  • designing games conforming to stoned specifications
  • patching existing games that already come close
  • designing programming languages usable when stoned
  • compiling lists of existing appropriate software
  • subtle logo
  • anyone for testing?

game specs

  1. Flat learning curve: _____________________.
  2. Nice, very nice music (watery sounds?).
  3. Even nicer graphics, soft colours.
  4. Easy interface, no getting lost in menus etc., full screen.
  5. No stress, no clock counting down, replace with stonedlevelindicator.
  6. Adapts to apparent and/or perceived thc level.
  7. Pause key.
  8. Small number of other keys to play the game. Rest of keys disabled. (note from cavac: Any non-game key should pause the game and display a big, easy to understand help)
  9. Some way to ask 'where was i' and have it answered.
  10. Integrated Pizza-Ordering from nearest town.

programming language specs

  1. Very forgiving syntax.
  2. Object oriented (like ruby)? Functional (like haskell)?
  3. Fuzzy logic?

appropriate software

  • Tranquility (see Tranquility Village for a link) is usable after having learned the trick. It isn't free in any way.
  • Frozen Bubble needs an --attention-deficit flag. Sound and graphics are probably perfect but need testing.
  • Fish Fillets has good atmosphere. To win levels one needs a lot of prefrontal cortex intelligence. But building special levels is possible. The fishes should show some initiative to stay close to their dear friend. Fishes maybe should not die. Maybe only get squeezed and than pop up again with a nice blobbing sound.
  • I wonder about flight simulators.
  • the Win95-Installer might also qualify

release schedule

This project will take all the time it needs to deliver nice software. Schedule will be heavily affected by the expected time needed to recover from testing stages.

testers

  • cavac ready for action :-))
