We have Fiber in the hole!!!!!!!
The sun is burning and the bushes sting, but that is not letting the Fiber Party Folks down. i'll try and keep you posted.

Around 15:00 we called lunchtime... but most of the work was done, and only a last little stretch from the end of the fiber (good side of the RailroadDuct to the campsite was to be done. We only needed max 20 people for this, so the others could go home and get some rest.
We have fiber running all the way from the HandHole through all the ducts, pipes and ditches, under the railroad and very near to the campsite.
Well done everyone... I'm assuming people will start uploading the audio and video data soon.

Have been home for a while now: the last bit was laid and cut off the roll (around 16:30), and is waiting to be welded to the first piece, probably this next Tuesday. Now let's all pray that there will be light.

When and Where
We have planned to gather at the What The Hack campsite on Saturday 16th of July at 10am
- (Yes it's early, but you have the chance to do something pretty unique ;)).
- The address:

Maybe there will be arranged some kind of transportation, stay tuned for more information.
What to bring
It would propably be a very good idea to put on some clothes you won't miss.
And we really need some people with wading boots (NL = lieslaarzen), so if you have those please bring them along.
- spades (schop, geen schep) (Astro: wel spade, geen bats?)
- gloves used by worksmen (werk handschoenen)
- sun head (zonne hoed)
- sun screen (zonnebrand olie)
- long sleeve shirt (there will be bushes and poisoningly stinging plants)
- long sleeve pants (there will be bushes)
- (maybe) good walking stick
- orange safety vests?
- rope! (r3boot: how much is needed? I've got 30+ mtrs of professional climbing rope bring it all :))
- something to neutralise mosquito bites (VSM Prrrikweg worksforme)
- water bottle
- flashlights
- laser pointers (green is better than red)
- plush animals (penguins and such) to scare off the wildlife ;)
- Strobe lights or other orange (not blue, red, green, etcetera!) flashy gear for in/on cars.
- warning triangles (gevarendriehoeken)
- PMR446 (8 ch) two-way radios and enough batteries for them (Juerd brings 40 AAA batteries, but please still bring your own too)
- Do we need fiber amplifiers?

Fiber party ??
Have you ever put in 3000 meter of fiber cable ?
You probably haven't. So this is your chance: on July 16th you will be able to experience it!
- We will create the uplink for WTH on that day.
- This will be a 3000 meter fiber between the campground and the nearby village. The cable has to run through ducts, water, grass and everything else you can think of. And we will need a lot of people, around 40 - 60, to get it done in one day.
- Why that many people, for only 3000 meter of fiber?
- At the beginning there won't be need for alot of people, but the further we get, the more we run the risk of breaking our (only!) fiber. So all along the route there have to be people who make sure this does not happen, and the cable is carefully handled.
Handhole
Before we will put the fiber in place on July the 16th, we will need do dig a hole at the Vrilkhovenseweg. This is where our fiber will be connected to a fiber from Essent/@Home. To be able to make a connection and to enable the engineers from Essent/@Home to do their work while we are still in preparation, we need to install a handhole. This is basically a hole in the ground with a lid on it.
News: We have the permit to do this. Since it won't be too much work, we will do this during the fiberparty, as early as possible (starting right at 10:00).

Current status of the traject
- The small tunnel under the rails did give a positive 'ping'.
- We call this the RailRoad Duct
- We have some scenarios to 'conquer' the RailRoad Duct
- It is conquered! √
- Most other ducts are taken care of too. That is, there's rope waiting to pull fiber through. √
- How to unroll the fiber easy. √ We have this.
- How to protect the fiber. √ Taken care of.

As said above, we need a list of people who are willing to help. So here we are going to make a list of all the people who are going to join us. You can put yourself on the list, but please only put yourself in the 'sure' section if your a 100% sure we can count on you.
