Lockpicking and other lock related stuff at 'What the Hack'.

SSDeV and Toool will have a big tent that is publicly available at WTH in the Lockpicking_Village. During the event this is the place to learn about locks and lockpicking. There will be around the clock workshops. And there will be a lot of interesting hardware you can play with. Some of which you might not even knew existed ;) This is the place to buy your lockpick set, or expand the one you already posses ;) Come and learn!

As this is an international conference we would like to use the opportunity to organize our famous 'Dutch Open' lockpick championship here. On Saturday Juli 30st, the worlds finest lockpickers will compete against each other trying to win the 'Dutch Open 2005'. Everyone at WTH can join this edition of the Dutch Open. However, you do need to register in advance. We have plenty (but limited) space in the lockpicking tent. If things get out of hand this means we will have to move to a bigger tent. The Dutch Open will start on Saturday at 12:00 at the lockpick village tent. Participants need to be in this tent at 11:45. The finals will probably be played around 15:00. To get an impression about the games read the article wired wrote about the previous Dutch Open: http://www.toool.nl/wired.pdf

At the end of the games there will not only be an award ceremony for the Dutch Open champions but it will also be the beginning of the new Toool ongoing competition 2005/2006. This competition goes on all year, and provides an opportunity to learn the 26 different competition locks inside and out. So you can pick a particular lock as many times as you like, and your fastest time will be the only one that counts. If you have a nice/special lock you would like to donate to this competition see us in the lockpick tent.

The games from 2004/2005 just ended. Some of the times are difficult to improve upon. For instance, Paul Bovel picked the Chinese quality lock '909' in 0.5 seconds (that's right, half a second!). That is including the time it took to push start and stop on the stopwatch! We where lucky to catch it on video. http://www.toool.nl/competitie.wmv To see the variety of locks and scores: http://www.toool.nl/competitie These locks will be around at WTH and people can have a try at them. This includes the Medeco biaxial lock some people claim to be unpickable. Feel free to come by and see if you can beat our times ;) We will transfer the complete case to a different sportgroup after the finals of the Dutch Open 2005. We hope this type of game will become popular, and the collection of locks will go from sportgroup to sportgroup.
