Creative Commons in Nederland

From What The Wiki?!

Paul Keller begun his presentation by pointing out that one can not really talk about the Nederlands as being a specific case on the creative commons scenario. So he drew a more global perspective on the nature of this project, how it begun and where it is implemented already. As being a project that was started in the USA, it means that there are some specific rules that are directly linked with that reality, so once it is going to be adopted by another country it means that it needs to be translated to that language and to that reality. Keller explained the major 6 possibilities to register something in the creative commons.

After that brief presentation he invited Benjamin Mako Hill (who is also a free-software developer) to give a short presentation and to discuss with him the question of free-culture versus free-software. The parallels and differences of these two major topics were analyzed. The common misunderstanding, that the idea of creative commons is about free-culture in the same way as free-software is, was pointed out explicitely. These two concepts are not the same thing. The discussion is open.

On Sunday, 31st July 2005, SubEether Radio continued the discussion at 15:00h and also the process of creating a creative commons license in Brazil. (mp3s from SubEether Radio will be available in the upcoming weeks)
