What we do

This team will roll out the cable infrastructure before the event.

This will be something that needs to be done early.. so anyone showing up there in the very beginning is very welcome to join in(mail us + add your name here + subscribe to the list). We really need some volunteers, who will be avalible at 23-07 for the power cabling. If you want to help/volunteer please send an email to the coordinators.

What we know

  • General
    • We do network cable mainly, although you might end up helping with power or phone cables
    • Crossing roads will be done with already in place 'kabelgoten'
      • there's one from A3 to A4
      • one from A6 to A5
      • for a1 and a7 there's a water duct

  • The fields
    • A1 - A7 will be completely wired
    • K, H (CERT) and F (BSD_Village) will need to be wired
    • E1 will have something partially
    • E2 only the Astro_Village
    • entrance will require power and network (fibre)
    • B, C, D will need nothing

(B could use a little power for AerialPhotography - Sn) Personally I'd say it shouldn't be a problem to drag one 16A over from F to B1.. -- Thali 11:42, 4 Jul 2005 (CEST) Not necessary, there is (limited) power available on B1 Timo 14:11, 4 Jul 2005 (CEST)

Plan

  • Cabling route over the fields Pdf file
  • cables can only be placed after the tents have been setup on saturday, but we will start on monday to do everything at once.
  • non tent locations can only be done on/after monday

Planning

We have made a basic planning about when, where and what.

  • Wednesday/Thursday 20/21 July (possibly including Friday): Network cable to register and Meeting Room
  • Saturday/Sunday 23/24 July: The main tents will be built, as soon as they are ready the connection between them will be arranged.
  • Monday 25 July: Cabins for switches will arrive, when they have, UTP will be done.
  • Tuesday 26 July: Probably we forgot something, so this is going to be done on this day.

Volunteers

Planning

  • Wednesday - Friday 22 Jul: Pulling the fibers for the 10GbitE ring.
  • Saturday - 23 Jul: Powercabling starts, needs lot of people
  • Sunday - 24 Jul: Networkcabling starts, depening on the work about 6 to 10 people needed.
