DescriptionOn October 7th, 2004, FBI shut down italy.indymedia.org server based in London, with a US Provider. This happened following an Italian Prosecutor request for alog file that the FBI extended to the seizure of the whole server. On June 21st, 2005, autistici.org/inventati.org collective discovered thatthe Italian ISP Aruba allowed Italian police to copy the entire content of theserver disk (serving out 4000 email and 700 mailing lists) without any notice tothe server owner (the collective and its legal representative AssociazoineInvestici). This lead to one year of free-from-encryption sniffing of the servertraffic beyond any formal mandate. On June 25 the Florence LUG discovered their server (and main Italiananonymizer) had the hard disk in a different position from where they left them. This could suggest someone intervened on the server without notifying them.A major crackdown on secure communication and alternative networks is beingweaved in Italy. A brief speech on the detail of how it's happening and what itmeans.
